Father’s Day Portrait Cake Workshop

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll create your own A4-sized portrait slab cake, finished with buttercream and a hand-piped chocolate family portrait inspired by your own photograph.

Perfect for anyone wanting to make something extra special for Dad, Grandpa or another important father figure, this workshop combines cake decorating with edible art in a fun and creative format.

What You’ll Learn

During the workshop, participants will be guided step-by-step through how to:

Prepare and assemble an A4-sized slab cake
** family sessions will be given additional candies, cake pops and cookies for decoration**
Layer and fill the cake evenly
Crumb coat and frost the cake with buttercream
Prepare a photograph for use as a portrait reference
Simplify a family photo into an achievable line-art design
Pipe a portrait by hand using chocolate
Add finishing details to create a personalised Father’s Day cake

Your Own Family Portrait – In Chocolate

Before the workshop, simply provide us with a clear family photograph you would like to recreate.

We’ll show you how to translate the photograph into an edible chocolate portrait and pipe the design directly onto your cake. No drawing or cake decorating experience is required — we’ll guide you through the process.

Your portrait could feature Dad with the kids, Grandpa with the grandchildren, the whole family, or another meaningful photo you know he’ll love.

Take Home Your Own A4 Slab Cake

At the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your completed A4 portrait slab cake, ready to take home and share for Father’s Day.

All cake, buttercream, chocolate, decorating materials and equipment required during the class are provided.

Suitable For

Beginners are welcome. This workshop is designed to be relaxed, creative and achievable even if you’ve never decorated a cake before.

Please note: Participants will be required to submit their chosen portrait photograph prior to the workshop so it can be reviewed for suitability. Clear photographs with easily visible faces and simple compositions will produce the best results.
