Sugar Pop Bakery’s founder, Nicole, grew up in sunny Singapore, where she was often teased as a Crybaby by her 11 cousins made up of predominately boys. As such, she had learnt to play tea parties on her own with her grandmother by her side.

Every day Nicole would come home from school to enjoy her grandmother’s company over a glass of milk and a fresh baked treat. This daily baking ritual and special time together in the kitchen left a lasting impression. When Nicole grew up, she moved to Sydney to pursue a career in pharmacy and baked only when the occasions called for it. It wasn’t until she became a mother to 3 beautiful girls, did Nicole realized how much she still loves creating pretty food.

After discovering cake pops from a website by Bakerella, Nicole realised the potential of a small ball of cake on a stick. In late 2012, she decided to go online and started Sugar Pop Bakery as a hobby business so as to keep her passion in baking alive while she worked as a full-time pharmacist. However, what she didn’t expect was how big the response to her creations were and how fast it could have grown. Within 6 months of creating dessert pops, Nicole won the ACDN Cake Decorator of the Year in the Cake Pops category in 2013. Words of her quality work traveled far and since then, her cake pops have been found at major store openings, fashion run-ways and corporate anniversaries.


Appreciating the growth of her business in such a short time, Nicole decided to place her pharmaceutical ambitions on hold and took the plunge with her first commercial venture which has since been enthusiastically received. Through Sugar Pop Bakery, Nicole decided to honor her grandmother’s teachings: both in her dedication to baking traditions and her commitment to provide women with progressive careers in the food and hospitality industry.
